An authenticity check confirms that the device and tip used on you are genuine, registered products from Merz. It is not just about the machine — the disposable tip matters just as much.

Each genuine tip has a set number of allowed uses tracked by an internal chip. It is most often chosen to protect patients from unsafe, unregulated devices sold outside official channels.

There are two separate checks. The first confirms your clinic is authorized. The second confirms the exact device and tip used on you.

Method 1: Check the clinic on the official Merz site Go to Merz's official Ultherapy authentication page. Search the list for your clinic's name. Or browse authorized clinics in your area. If your clinic doesn't appear, ask why before you book.

Method 2: Verify the device and tip in person This checks the exact machine and tip used on you, not just the clinic's status. Ask your clinic for permission before you start.

• Turn on NFC on your phone.
• Tap your phone near the power button on the device, where the NFC tag sits.

• A real device shows an authentication screen on your phone.

• On that screen, tap "Verify transducer authenticity."
• Choose the QR code scan option.

• "Will you let me tap the device with my phone before treatment?"
• "Can I scan the QR code under the tip myself?"
• "Is your clinic listed as an official Merz partner?"

• Skipping the Merz site check. Trusting the clinic's word alone isn't enough — check the list yourself.
• Not asking to tap the device. Many patients assume this is rude to ask. Trusted clinics expect the question.
• Assuming a genuine device means a genuine tip. The device and the tip are checked separately — verify both.
• Not scanning the QR code yourself. Watching staff do it isn't the same as confirming it on your own phone.
• Booking on price alone. Confirm authenticity first, then compare prices between authorized clinics.

Genuine Ultherapy Prime systems check the device and the tip separately, on purpose. A device can be genuine and registered. A swapped or reused tip can still be attached to it. That's why tapping the device alone isn't enough. You also need the tip's QR code to confirm it. Skipping either check leaves a gap a reused tip can slip through.
